Hey there!
Well, it’s the middle of March again (although, it kind of feels like it’s been the middle of March for the last year). I thought it would be a good time to check in and tell you about some projects and publications I’m excited about!
Poetry Publications
“I wish my body was a poem” was published in Brave Voices Magazine this month! Interestingly enough, it went live on their site on a day that I spent working on a really comforting collaborative project about feeling safe and comfortable in my body. To quote my own tweet, “the timing reminded me that every story can be whole and still have another half.” I’ll be sharing another poem that speaks to that other half to my paid subscribers in a few days, so make sure you’re subscribed at the $5/month tier if you want to see it!
A few of my previously unpublished poems are featured in an upcoming anthology from Moontide Press called Sh!t Men Say to Me: A Poetry Anthology in Response to Toxic Masculinity. It’s a great and important collection! If you want to preorder it and support a small press, you can do that here.
My work is also featured in a couple of new collections from Picture Show Press!
The Undulating Line: Writing Poetry through Belly Dance is a collection that grew out of some hybrid dance and poetry workshops hosted in the before times. It’s lovely!
The Bridge: Volume II is a collaboration between writers in America and Pakistan. Reading the work of the other contributors has really helped me feel more connected to the rest of the world, which is such a blessing right now.
Podcast News
The first two episodes of The Bi Pod are available wherever you listen to podcasts! This project feels more vulnerable than I’d expected it to, but in a good way.
National Poetry Writing Month
I’d like to do something fun for National Poetry Writing Month! I’m thinking about doing weekly writing prompts for my paying subscribers, but let me know if there’s anything else you’d like to see. I’ll announce the plan at the end of March.
If you’re already a paying subscriber, you’ll get a new and unpublished poem from me this week! Otherwise, I’ll be back in your inbox at the end of this month with another pop culture essay.
All the best,
Christina
